Bus crash in Germany kills 18 people

A bus carrying a group of German senior citizens early Monday burst into flames when it hit a truck on a highway, killing at least 18 people and injuring 30 others. Police spokeswoman Irene Brandenstein said two drivers and 48 passengers were on the bus when it rear-ended the trailer on a highway near Muenchberg in Bavaria. The bus was completely charred by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. Police officials said the seniors on the bus had come from Saxony in eastern Germany.

Tourist boat sinks in Colombia

Scuba divers and other rescue teams in Colombia on Monday continued to search for bodies and survivors after a tourist boat packed with more than 150 passengers sank. Rescue teams have confirmed that at least six people died and another 15 are still missing. Videos from the incident showed several of the passengers climbing to the top of the boat as other rescue vessels rushed to the scene. The boat sank within minutes.

Tanker fire kills 150 in Pakistan

More than 150 people were killed Sunday when an overturned tanker truck exploded in Pakistan. A tanker carrying about 6,600 gallons of gasoline flipped over in the southern city of Bahawalpur. Hundreds of people ignored police warnings and rushed to scoop up the gushing fuel in buckets, bottles, and cans. About an hour after the accident, with a crowd still gathered around the truck, it caught fire and exploded. Area hospitals are treating over a hundred burn victims from the accident.
