North Korean and U.S. officials are engaging in “behind-the-scenes talks” over a possible third summit, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday. In a response to reporters, Moon said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump’s exchange of letters this week proves their “willingness to engage in dialogue has never faded.” He added, “Complete denuclearization and a permanent peace regime on the peninsula are tasks that cannot be achieved overnight.

President Donald Trump plans to visit South Korea on Saturday after exchanging letters with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump will begin the two-day visit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Moon spokesman Ko Min-jung said.

On Sunday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Trump sent a letter to Kim, adding that “correspondence between the two leaders has been ongoing.” The North Korean Central News Agency said Kim received the “excellent” letter and “he would seriously contemplate the interesting content.”

Officials in Budapest, Hungary, on Thursday resumed searching for survivors after a sightseeing boat carrying South Korean tourists capsized in the Danube River, leaving at least seven people dead and 21 others missing. The missing people include 19 South Koreans and two Hungarian crew members. The South Korea–based Very Good Tour agency said 30 tourists, two guides, and a photographer were on board when the boat collided with a larger cruise ship late Wednesday during a heavy downpour.

UPDATE: A North Korean missile launch on Saturday does not pose a significant threat to the United States, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday. “At no point was there ever any international boundary crossed,” Pompeo told ABC News’ This Week. “They landed in the water east of North Korea and didn’t present a threat to the United States or to South Korea or Japan. And we know that they were relatively short range.”

Amid a nationwide debate over late-term abortion and infanticide, Texas became the latest state to draft legal protections for babies born alive after an abortion attempt. Last week, the Texas House of Representatives approved a born-alive bill and sent it to the Senate for consideration. The Senate passed its own version of the measure earlier this month. Both bills require abortion facilities provide medical care to babies born after botched abortions.

The South Korean Constitutional Court on Thursday overturned a 65-year-old law protecting unborn babies from abortion. Under the 1953 law, women who underwent abortions could face fines and imprisonment, except in cases of rape, incest, or health risks. In a 7-2 ruling, the court said the abortion law and another one that subjected abortionists to criminal charges were unconstitutional. South Korea was one of the last few developed nations with broad legal protection for unborn babies, though the law was rarely enforced.

North Korea has started to rebuild a long-range rocket launch site it promised to destroy last year at the first summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump, South Korea and foreign experts said Tuesday. Construction work is ongoing at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station at Tongchang-ri, which the regime previously had partially destroyed, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service reported Tuesday, according to the South Korean Yonhap News Agency.
