UPDATE: In court filings released Friday, federal prosecutors in New York said Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, arranged hush money payments directed by Trump to two women alleging affairs with him, violating campaign finance laws. Prosecutors, however, did not accuse the president of a crime.

Mueller suggests no jail time for Flynn

WASHINGTON—Special counsel Robert Mueller recommended that former national security adviser Michael Flynn receive little to no prison time because he cooperated with federal investigators on the inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, according to a Tuesday court filing. Flynn pleaded guilty a year ago to making false statements to the FBI about conversations he had with then–Russian Ambassador to the U.S.

SAUDI ARABIA: U.S. senators emerged from a closed-door briefing with CIA Director Gina Haspel saying the evidence overwhelmingly points to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s involvement in the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. “There’s not a smoking gun—there’s a smoking saw,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
