But that was just the first, and frankly, the easiest step in a long process to fulfill the GOP promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare.

Some migrant children rescued from sea, many drown

Spain’s defense ministry said its navy frigate on Wednesday rescued 282 migrants from the Mediterranean Sea. The migrants included 61 women and 203 men from African and Asian countries. About 18 Eritrean children were also among the rescued. Earlier Tuesday, rescue groups said more than 30 migrants, the majority of them toddlers, drowned when about 200 people without lifejackets fell into the sea before they could be helped into rescue boats.

Italian authorities on Monday arrested 68 people, including a priest, for working with a mafia group to exploit millions of dollars of public funds that had been allocated to assist migrants at the country’s welcome center. The authorities also arrested the head of a Catholic volunteer group called Mercy and seized up to $93 million worth of assets from the mafia group.
