Suicide has been a growing problem in the West for decades now. But drastically higher rates of suicide have consistently plagued Native communities in both the United States and Canada as those populations struggle with alcoholism, drug abuse, and poverty. In Canada, an Indigenous person is three times more likely to die by his own hand than a non-Indigenous person.

Per capita income of white Americans in the United States in 2018, according to the Census Bureau. Several nonwhite groups of Asian ancestry earn more money than white Americans, on a per capita basis. When considered in terms of household income, many additional groups—including Iranian Americans, Indonesian Americans, Filipino Americans, Ghanaian Americans, and Egyptian Americans—earn more than white Americans earn. Asian Americans overall had higher per capita and household incomes than white Americans had in 2018.
