On Sunday morning, members of Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu, China, tried to meet together for Sunday worship only to have police detain about 60 people and shut down outdoor services. Several small groups found spaces to meet and worship without incident.

CHINA: More than 60 police officers stormed a children’s Bible class Saturday morning to launch a raid shutting down Rongguili Church in Guangzhou. The church was founded by the late Samuel Lamb and became the third prominent Protestant church in China closed in recent months.

China closes another underground church

Authorities raided an underground church in southern China over the weekend in an ongoing crackdown on unregistered churches. More than 60 police and Religous Affairs officials stormed the Rongguili Church in Guangzhou during a children’s Bible class Saturday morning, the South China Morning Post reported.
