Sex-abuse victim euthanized in Holland after struggling with depression

She was sexually abused from age 5 to 15. Now in her 20s she is dead, euthanized by the lethal injection she requested. As a result of the abuse she suffered as a child, the young Dutch woman developed post-traumatic stress disorder, severe anorexia, chronic depression, and hallucinations, the Daily Mail reported.

Family, faith crisis sparked weekend shooting in Colorado

A Colorado Springs, Colo., man killed three people Saturday morning with an AR-15 rifle before police shot him dead. As with other mass shooting events, this case has sparked speculation about whether the rampage represented a legislative failure, or a personal one.

Fourteen years ago, The Atlantic published an article titled “A New Way to Be Mad” by Carl Elliott, which explored the world of “apotemnophilia.” My spell-checker doesn’t recognize that word, and I can’t blame it. The thing it describes is due for a name change anyway—only last week it showed up as “transabled.”
