NIGERIA: Gunmen abducted the wife of the Anglican bishop of Bari diocese in Kano State, the latest in a string of violent attacks by Islamic extremists on Catholic and Protestant clergy and lay members in the region.

Italy extends quarantine

With 9,000 cases of COVID-19 and 463 deaths, the Italian government put the whole country under a travel ban on Monday night. The revised quarantine affects 60 million people. It will last until April 3, extending school closures and banning all public gatherings and nonessential travel. Delivery trucks are still running, and authorities said people can still travel for work.

Italy imposes widespread quarantine

The Italian government has quarantined roughly 16 million people in the northern half of the country for the next month. COVID-19 has killed at least 366 people in the country, which has the highest death toll from the disease caused by the new coronavirus outside of China.
