Basketball star LeBron James waded into the international controversy over the NBA’s relationship with China this week. At a news conference Monday, the player known as “King James” to his fans, said Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey’s now-deleted tweet in support of Hong Kong protesters earlier this month was “misinformed” and “uneducated.”

Hong Kong court upholds marriage law

As the semi-autonomous territory of China wrestles with social and political upheaval, one thing will remain the same for now: the definition of marriage. The Hong Kong Court of First Instance ruled Friday that the government has no obligation to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples or establish a legal basis for civil unions.

Hong Kong leader booed off stage

Opposition lawmakers heckled and shouted over Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam as she tried to deliver her annual policy speech to the Legislative Council on Wednesday. After two tries, Lam opted to give her address via a video recording instead.
