CHINA: A report by researcher Adrian Zenz, one of the first to document Beijing’s oppression of mostly Muslim Uighurs, cites the authorities’ extensive plan for reeducation and forced labor at factories where Uighurs “can learn the nation’s common language” and “understand the right and wrong.” At a clothing factory in Shenzhen, a manager claims the “de-extremification” process “causes workers to become born again.” Writes Z

Attacks in Israel persist despite cease-fire

Another round of rockets fired from Gaza struck Israel early on Thursday, hours after a cease-fire deal kicked in. On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes killed a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group. At least 34 Palestinians have died in the ensuing violence, and parts of Israel have come to a standstill.

Israeli airstrike kills Islamic Jihad commander

An airstrike on Tuesday killed Bahaa Abu el-Atta and his wife in their home in eastern Gaza. Syrian officials said a separate Israeli strike in the capital city of Damascus targeted another Islamic Jihad commander, Akram al-Ajouri, although he emerged unharmed.
