Manafort cuts plea deal

WASHINGTON—Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, has agreed to a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller in exchange for reduced charges. Manafort will plead guilty to two out of the initial seven charges against him. In documents filed Friday and signed by Mueller, prosecutors charged Manafort with one count of conspiracy against the United States and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

9/11 remembered

Americans across the country Tuesday commemorated the 17th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Nearly 3,000 people died on Sept. 11, 2001, when 19 hijackers crashed four planes in New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Shanksville, Pa. Victim’s relatives, rescuers, and survivors attended a memorial ceremony at New York’s World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday morning, the time when the first plane slammed into the center’s north tower. Less than 20 minutes later, another plane crashed into the south tower, in total killing 2,606 people.
