Mueller breaks silence on Russia investigation

WASHINGTON—Special counsel Robert Mueller on Wednesday gave his first public comments about the investigation into Russian interference in 2016 U.S. presidential election. He announced his resignation from the Justice Department and said he did not plan to testify before Congress. Mueller was appointed in May 2017 to examine whether Donald Trump’s campaign conspired with the Russian government to influence the election’s outcome. The probe’s results are described in a 448-page report and led to indictments of 37 people and businesses.

Congress demands answers from Trump Jr., Mueller

As congressional Democrats continue their quest to find evidence against the president in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative report, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday to get some answers of its own. The committee is in the process of wrapping up a separate investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Democrats demand action on Mueller report

Unsatisfied with Attorney General William Barr’s decision not to prosecute President Donald Trump, House Democrats issued a subpoena Friday for special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report. Barr released a redacted version of the report to Congress and the public Thursday. Following a two-year investigation, Mueller concluded that Russia tried to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and that the Trump campaign did not collaborate with those efforts, but he declined to make a decision about whether the president obstructed the inquiry.
