An independent political action committee supporting a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Kansas sent out mailers last week accusing the GOP rival, U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall, of performing abortions. Marshall, an OB-GYN who represents western and central Kansas in Congress, has garnered the endorsements of pro-life groups such as Kansans for Life.

Several hundred pro-life advocates gathered in Mexico City on Tuesday in anticipation of a ruling by Mexico’s highest court that could determine the future of abortion laws in the country. Most wore masks and held signs as they spread out on the paved surface of the Zócalo, the city’s main square surrounded by the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, and the Supreme Court of Justice for the Nation. Rodrigo Iván Cortés, president of the Mexican pro-life group National Front for the Family, arrived at 8 a.m. that morning when the weather was still cool.

Linda Wells, executive director of Eden Clinic in Norman, Okla., has worked at pro-life pregnancy centers for 22 years. For more than three decades, she has watched the number of centers swell and the care they provide to women and their unborn or newborn babies grow sophisticated. Centers that started as “mom and pop shops,” distributing free diapers and pregnancy tests, are now medical clinics with ultrasound machines, prenatal care, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.
