Three students disarmed Colorado school shooter

Three students leapt up from their desks and disarmed a gunman during the shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado on Tuesday. Kendrick Castillo, 18, who led the charge, was shot and killed. Castillo, along with classmates Brendan Bialy and Joshua Jones, minimized the bloodshed from the attack that wounded eight students, authorities said. Jones was shot twice but survived, according to a statement from his family. “Kendrick went out as a hero,” Bialy said. “He was a foot away from the shooter and instead of running the opposite direction he ran toward it.”

Congress demands answers from Trump Jr., Mueller

As congressional Democrats continue their quest to find evidence against the president in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative report, the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday to get some answers of its own. The committee is in the process of wrapping up a separate investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

North Korea launches short-range missiles

North Korea fired two short-range missiles Thursday in its second weapons launch in less than a week. The two weapons flew 260 miles and 167 miles, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. South Korea is working with U.S. officials to uncover more details about the launch.
