Ford to downsize by 7,000 jobs

Ford announced Monday it plans to cut 7,000 white-collar jobs, about 2,300 of them in the United States, as part of a planned restructuring. The cuts amount to about 10 percent of the automaker’s global workforce. The major revamp, in progress since last year, will save about $600 million per year by eliminating bureaucracy and increasing the number of workers reporting to each manager.

Kushner unveils part of Middle East peace plan

WASHINGTON—The White House announced Sunday that it will hold an economic workshop in Bahrain next month to encourage investments in Palestine, the first stage of its Middle East peace plan. The “Peace to Prosperity” workshop, slated for June 25 and 26 in Manama, Bahrain, will give foreign finance ministers and business executives an opportunity to invest in Palestinian territories to encourage compromise on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Rocket lands near U.S. Embassy in Baghdad

President Donald Trump warned Iran not to threaten the United States after a rocket landed less than a mile from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday. A low-grade rocket exploded in Baghdad’s Green Zone, home to the government’s headquarters and the U.S. Embassy. The explosion caused no casualties or damages to any U.S. buildings, and Iraqi Security Forces are investigating the explosion, the U.S. military command said. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
