Sgt. 1st Class Michael J. Goble of Washington Township, N.J., died in a roadside bombing in northern Kunduz province on Monday. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the insurgent group carried out the bombing.
What happened? Goble, 33, suffered fatal injuries while his unit was engaged in combat operations in the province, according to the Pentagon. Twenty Americans have died in the fighting in Afghanistan this year.
