Islamic extremists on Sunday attacked a hotel resort in Mali’s capital, where they killed at least four people. The first of four attackers entered the resort in Bamako on a motorcycle while the last three drove in and began to fire their weapons. Some 32 guests escaped the incident, including 12 people who sustained injuries, said Security Minister Salif Traore. The four people who died in the attack include two civilians, a Malian soldier, and a Portuguese soldier. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but security forces have said they killed all four of the attackers. Foreigners in Mali frequented the Hotel Le Campement Kangaba resort, located on the outskirts of Bamako. The U.S. State Department in the past week warned of possible attacks on Western diplomatic missions and locations that Westerners frequent in Bamako.
