Jury acquits immigration activist

Scott Warren will not go to prison for helping men who crossed the U.S. southern border illegally in January 2018, a jury in Tucson, Ariz., decided on Wednesday. This was the second trial considering Warren’s case. The first ended in a mistrial after the jury couldn’t break a deadlock.

What did he do? Prosecutors accused Warren, 37, of knowingly breaking the law by hiding the two men from Border Patrol agents. Warren contended he was legally helping the injured men. Warren belongs to the group No More Deaths, which leaves canned food and jugs of water in the Arizona wilderness for migrants crossing into the United States.

Dig deeper: Read Charissa Koh’s report in Compassion about how faith-based organizations are trying to find legal ways to care for asylum-seekers at the U.S. southern border.

How messed up is it, when this man, who has all but admitted helping immigrants break the law, is acquitted?

Yet our President, who has fought to enforce our immigration laws, is subject to impeachment for that and other “crimes,” under the pretense he used his position for political advantage, and numerous other “trumped up” charges. (sorry, couldn’t resist!)

And if the Levite in the Good Samaritan story had happened to have been an illegal immigrant, I wonder if they would have sent the Samaritan to jail for saving his life? If you had been a German in WWII, and you happened upon a severely wounded American, or French or other Allied soldier, and your Christian compassion overwhelmed you so much that you hid the American and helped him, would you be sent to jail? BTW, Trump is not being investigated for potential impeachment because he seeks to enforce our immigration laws--good example of a trumped up statement.

There’s a lot of injustice in the world, and apparently Mr.Warren believes he is doing something to correct some of those injustices.  Also apparently, his Mom and Dad didn’t teach him that two wrongs don’t make a right.

As far as why the left wants to impeach Trump, their stated reasons may not include his attempts to make our border secure, but pretty much everything he says or does inflames them. Kinda thought I already said something like that, but maybe it didn’t come thru.

Saying something doesn't make it true, although when assertions get repeated often enough, they become a kind of truth. I don't know anyone who thinks or says that immigration policy, no matter how unpopular it may be, is anything but political--i.e., nothing to do with impeachment.

For my part, if a president consistently and thoroughly from the very get go verbally attacks, insults, calls names, and denigrates: women, minorities, citizens whose parents were immigrants, handicapped persons, foreign countries, state governors, cities struggling with issues of poverty and its consequences, journalists, political opponents, and pretty much everyone who disagrees with him, if this person consistently misrepresents, misquotes, twists, invents, and distorts facts on a regular basis, calling black white and white black, and if this president interferes in local politics and strong arms his own party members to bring them into line, purposefully destroying the political careers of all who don't kow-tow to him, if he micro-manages even the military, so that the military cannot even judge and discipline its own--if such a president then overtly breaks the Constitution by using the power of his office for personal political gain (i.e., using the same tactics he uses at home on a foreign president dependent upon not his help but the help of the United States as a world leader of democracy), then yes, I welcome impeachment.

Yes, Ma’am, stick to your guns!  You’re in good company:  all of the Dem Presidential candidates are also still calling for impeachment.

Cant seem to post the big smiley face, so just imagine one here!

Thank-you, Old Mike, that was a fairly mild rebuke. <3

    It's Tucson, not Tuscon.
