The cleanup from Tropical Storm Imelda has begun in Texas and Louisiana, where five people died in the flooding last week. Some roads in Harris County, Texas, remained impassible over the weekend. The storm damaged several schools near Beaumont, Texas, along with hundreds of homes and other buildings in Houston and across the border in Louisiana. Imelda dumped nearly 2 feet of rain in 24 hours in some places.

How much will cleanup cost? The storm caused millions of dollars in uninsured losses. Officials in the Houston area were trying to determine if the costs could trigger a federal disaster declaration.
