Steve Bullock declared an emergency for areas hit by the early snowstorm. “We’re used to this kind of storm, just not this time of year,” Glacier superintendent Jeff Mow told The New York Times.
How much snow fell? Montana got up to 2 feet on Saturday in the mountains and a record 14 inches in Great Falls. Meteorologists also issued winter storm warnings for northern Idaho, northeast Washington, and parts of California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. The heavy, wet snow and high winds closed roads, downed trees, and caused scattered power outages.
