Deep freeze grips U.S.

Frigid weather descended on much of the United States on Wednesday, thanks to a split in the polar vortex. Officials from Montana to Maine and as far south as Georgia urged residents to take precautions amid the freezing cold. The Midwest bore the brunt of the freeze, with the temperature hitting minus 20 degrees in Chicago by Wednesday morning, breaking the previous record low for the day set in 1966. The U.S. Postal Service suspended mail delivery on Wednesday in parts or all of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

“These [conditions] are actually a public health risk and you need to treat it appropriately,” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Tuesday. “They are life-threatening conditions and temperatures.” Many schools shut down as far south as Atlanta, where a predicted winter storm never materialized. But like much of the country, the city was not spared a hard freeze.

The frigid weather resulted when a rush of warm air from the South split the polar vortex—the cold air that normally swirls above the North Pole—into pieces, causing a rise in temperatures in the Arctic and leaving sections of the vortex to wander south, bringing cold air with it.

I love how man-made global warming supporters claim as evidence when it's hot, moderate, cold, or even when the weather changes.  In other words, everything that happens is evidence of man-made global warming.

Yep, hurricanes - global warming, heat wave - global warming, deep freeze - global warming, floods - global warming, drought - global warming. See a pattern here? Haven't all these things been happening since the dawn of time? It is just a ruse to separate the "wealthy" nations from their wealth and redistribute as the Leftists see fit. Oh well, let me go and see if there are any polar bears left.

The last time the big freeze took Chicago they demanded DC do something about it.

And the scientists these days just proclaim, "GLOBAL WARMING!" Because THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO!

If you disagree, it keeps them busy, especially if Trump disagrees. And the trolls come out of the woodwork proclaiming "the sky is falling!" No, I meant Global Warming. ;-)

WHO CARES! If I disagree or agree, the scientists will continue hacking away at the polar ice until nothing is left.

So now I just say, AND?! YOUR SOLUTION IS WHAT? To give taxpayer money away to countries whose gov'ts will gladly spend it on themselves. Everyone feels better, especially the homeless and the refugees looking for another home? NOT!

    Chicago in 1985

When the temperature hit 27 below, the wind chill was measured at minus 78 degrees.

The Chicago Sun Times takes a look back at Chicago's freeze in 1985. (not just Chicago, but across the nation, photos included)

    Very interesting.
