White House names new press secretary

WASHINGTON—Stephanie Grisham, the spokeswoman for Melania Trump, will become the new White House press secretary at the beginning of July, the first lady announced Tuesday. Grisham will succeed Sarah Sanders, who announced her decision to step down earlier this month amid rumors she was considering following in the footsteps of her father, Mike Huckabee, and running for governor of Arkansas.

Trump clarifies comments about foreign information

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump said Friday that he would definitely contact the FBI if a foreign power gave him information about a political rival, but he doubled down on comments he made in an ABC News interview that aired Wednesday that he would accept information on his 2020 election opponent from foreign governments. During that interview the president made conflicting comments on whether he would contact the FBI.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave press secretary post

WASHINGTON—White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will step down from that position at the end of June and return home to Arkansas, President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday afternoon. “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job!” the president wrote. “I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas—she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”
