Hurricane Dorian threatens Puerto Rico, Florida

Dorian strengthened to a Category 1 hurricane Wednesday as it approached Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Forecasters expect it to move northwest into the Atlantic Ocean and strengthen as it heads toward the southeastern United States.

Weakened Barry still poses flood risk

Tropical Storm Barry spared Louisiana catastrophic flooding after it made landfall Saturday and weakened to a tropical depression Sunday afternoon. Forecasters predicted continued heavy rain into Monday, and much of the state, as well as Mississippi and parts of Arkansas, East Texas, western Tennessee, and southeastern Missouri remained under flash flood watches.

Barry makes landfall, downgraded to tropical storm

UPDATE: Barry has made landfall on the Louisiana coast, weakening from a hurricane to a tropical storm with sustained winds near 70 mph, the National Hurricane Center said.
