U.S. triumphs again in Women’s World Cup

The U.S. national team won its fourth Women’s World Cup and second in a row Sunday in a 2-0 victory against the Netherlands in Lyon, France. The U.S. team also won the title in 1991, 1999, and 2015. “We’ve been tested individually and collectively so much,” star striker Alex Morgan said. “So to see, four years ago, us go from two [championships] to three, and now three to four, it’s really a dream come true.”

LA Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs found dead at 27

Tyler Skaggs, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was found dead Monday in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas, where his team was in town to play the Texas Rangers. He was 27. Authorities have not confirmed a cause of death but do not suspect foul play. The Angels and Rangers postponed their game scheduled for later that day. “Words cannot express the deep sadness we feel right now,” All-Star Angels center fielder Mike Trout tweeted. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Carli [Skaggs’s wife] and their families.
