Missouri judge sets new deadline for abortion center

A judge in St. Louis on Monday extended an order protecting the state’s only abortion facility from closure through Friday. By then, Planned Parenthood must take its licensure case to a different venue, Missouri Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer ruled.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals gave the Trump administration—and unborn babies—a surprise victory Thursday when it ruled unanimously that updates to Title X of the Public Health Service Act can go into effect. The changes will direct tax dollars away from Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities to health centers that don’t perform or refer for abortions.

Last abortion center in Missouri loses license

Missouri Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer will determine whether the state’s last abortion facility can stay open after Missouri health officials declined Friday to renew its license. The license for the Planned Parenthood abortion center in St. Louis expired on June 1, but Stelzer issued rulings earlier this month that kept the facility open.
