The U.S. Navy turbocharged conspiracy theories by confirming last week it cannot identify the flying objects in three videos taken by its pilots. “The Navy designates the objects contained in these videos as unidentified aerial phenomena,” Navy spokesman Joseph Gradisher told The Black Vault blog.

U.S. tests formerly banned missile

The U.S. military on Sunday launched a missile that was forbidden by a treaty until earlier this month. The Pentagon said it tested a modified version of a Navy Tomahawk cruise missile armed with a conventional warhead off the California coast. It flew more than 310 miles and struck its target with precision.

Man trades long hair for military service

Reynaldo Arroyo has let his hair grow for 15 years. But the 23-year-old finally cut it last week at the U.S. Army recruiting station in Missoula, Mont., where he enlisted. Arroyo donated the trimmings to Locks of Love, which makes wigs for children who lost their hair from medical conditions or treatments. “Hopefully some lucky little girl’s gonna get it,” Arroyo said in a video.
