World reacts to Biden’s projected victory

In the Irish town of Ballina, residents hung American flags in store windows and on rooftops on Saturday. Villagers in the Indian hometown of Kamala Harris’s maternal grandfather prayed and set off firecrackers on Sunday. Despite media reports on Biden’s victory, President Donald Trump has not conceded defeat and some states face possible recounts or lawsuits.

Biden claims win; Trump yet to concede

With tens of thousands of outstanding mail-in ballots waiting to be counted, Joe Biden held a victory rally in Wilmington, Del., on Saturday night. After news outlets declared him the winner of Pennsylvania, Nevada, and the Electoral College vote, he claimed the title of president-elect in a speech in which he referenced Ecclesiastes 3 and proclaimed a national “time to heal.”

Elections | Media project Joe Biden will be 46th president; Trump campaign continues legal action in close contest

Church bells rang out in Washington, D.C., on Saturday after most major news outlets projected Democrat Joe Biden will be the 46th president of the United States. CNN, ABC, NBC, the Associated Press, and Fox News called the race for Biden just before noon.

The outlets said a projected win in Pennsylvania would propel Biden past the 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency.
