Tennessee used the electric chair for the first time since 2007, executing double-murderer Edmund Zagorski Thursday after the U.S. Supreme Court denied his request for a stay. Zagorski, 63, was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m. at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, becoming only the second person in the state to be executed by electrocution since 1960. He was convicted for killing two men during a drug deal decades ago and had been on death row for 34 years.
