UK Girl Guides abandon God, pledge to themselves

Girlguiding UK, a British scouting organization, has “modernized” its pledge—and loving God did not make the cut.

The pledge has referenced God since the organization began in 1910. The group last changed the promise in 1994 when “duty to God” became “to love my God,” according to the BBC. Other changes attempted to make the pledge acceptable to people of many faiths. Now the organization has changed it once again to keep girls and parents with no faith at all from feeling excluded.

China clamps down on families who rescue abandoned babies

China has banned groups and individuals from privately adopting abandoned infants, making it much harder for babies without families to find good homes. The country’s Ministry of Civil Affairs announced Tuesday that people who find an abandoned child must immediately tell local residential committees and the police and not adopt the child at will.

Pew: Media favors same-sex marriage

A search for same-sex marriage on AP pulls up a slew of photos featuring sad homosexual couples denied the “right to marry,” and not much else. Now a study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism recognizes what any perceptive reader could have told them.
