Coronavirus takes out more health workers

The hospital director in hard-hit Wuhan, China, succumbed to the coronavirus, the city’s health bureau said Tuesday. Liu Zhiming is one of six other health workers in the country who have died from the disease. Chinese officials said it would designate them as state martyrs.

Gunmen attack Burkina Faso church

About 20 suspected extremists killed 24 people, including the pastor, at a Protestant church in Burkina Faso on Sunday. The attackers injured 18 and kidnapped three others in the town of Pansi in Yagha province, near the border with conflict-hit Niger. They burned down the church and looted oil and rice from the community before leaving on their motorbikes.

Cameroonian army denies attacking village

At least 14 children died in an attack on the village of Ntumbo, Cameroon, on Friday. A major opposition party and a key member of the separatist movement blamed state defense forces for the violence, which killed a total of 22 people.
