Texas wins appeal on abortion ruling

Texas can resume enforcing a governor’s order that counts elective abortions as a nonessential medical procedure that must be postponed during the coronavirus pandemic. A three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a Monday ruling by U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel that allowed abortionists to continue aborting babies while pro-abortion groups fought Gov. Greg Abbott’s order in the courts.

U.S. tests more than a million people

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on Monday said healthcare workers are now testing more than 100,000 samples from potential COVID-19 patients per day. President Donald Trump added in Monday’s briefing that “over 1 million Americans have now been tested, more than any country by far.”

How quickly are results known? Food and Drug Administration Administrator Stephen Hahn said newly approved COVID-19 point-of-care tests allow patients to get results in just minutes.

Outbreak intensifies throughout America

An infant from the Chicago area died of COVID-19 on Saturday, according to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker. “If you haven’t been paying attention, maybe this is your wake-up call,” said Dr. Ngozi Ezike, the state’s Department of Public Health director.
