I’m praying for Pastor Saeed Abedini. You’ve probably read that the married father and former Muslim left the United States to travel back to his native Iran to build an orphanage and see his parents. Abedini was arrested last year and charged with undermining Iran’s national security and trying to convert young Muslims to Christianity. He was sentenced to serve eight years in prison.

The dictionary defines political correctness as: “demonstrating progressive ideals, esp by avoiding vocabulary that is considered offensive, discriminatory, or judgmental, esp concerning race and gender.” I’ll go two steps further: Political correctness was created to suppress the expression of conventional wisdom and subvert traditional values.

When I first read about atheist “megachurches,” my reaction wasn’t skepticism or irritation. There was no eye rolling or shaking of the head. Instead, I gave a knowing nod. Though some atheists like to mock Christians for believing in a “sky god,” there is something compelling about faith, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

It should be obvious by now that when some members of certain minorities as well as those who want to normalize deviant sexual behavior speak about civil rights, it’s not equal treatment they seek but special treatment. They want to redefine terms to encompass preposterous ideas. They want race- and sex-based standards lowered or outright exemptions.

In its sexual misconduct code, Baylor University, a private Christian school in Texas, states that human sexuality is a gift from God whose purposes include procreation and “uniting and strengthening of the marital bond in self-giving love.” Acts that fall outside these purposes include incest, adultery, fornication, and homosexual acts.

“To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either” (Luke 6:29).

I think unbelief has more to do with rejecting the God of the Bible than it does a secular ideal of keeping church and state separate, a concept that isn’t stated or hinted at in the U.S. Constitution. Rebel sinners will do what is in their nature to do: continue to deny the living God.
