House eases path to legal action over subpoenas

WASHINGTON—The Democratic-majority U.S. House of Representatives voted Tuesday to authorize a resolution allowing House committees to take legal action against officials who resist subpoenas. The vote was 229-191 strictly along party lines, with 13 abstentions. The resolution specifically mentions Attorney General William Barr and former White House counsel Don McGahn.

Vermont enacts pro-abortion law

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican, signed a bill Monday that limits any opportunity for the state to safeguard unborn babies. The law, passed by the Democratic-majority legislature, prohibits any state or local government entity from taking action to protect unborn babies from abortion.

Vatican backs Biblical view of gender

The Vatican released a statement for Catholic educators on Monday criticizing the culture of gender fluidity and reaffirming a Biblical view of biological sex. The official statement, titled “Male and Female He Created Them,” comes from the Congregation for Catholic Education, which is the educational branch of the Vatican administration.
