Infamous All-Star Buckner dies at age 69

Bill Buckner, an All-Star first baseman remembered for a disastrous error in the 1986 World Series, died Monday after a long battle with Lewy body dementia. He was 69. Buckner’s career spanned more than 20 years. He was the 1980 National League batting champion while playing for the Chicago Cubs and played for the Boston Red Sox from 1984 to 1987.

French police arrest suspects in Lyon bombing

After a three-day manhunt, French police on Monday arrested four suspects in relation to an explosion in the city of Lyon that wounded 13 people. The detainees include one main suspect and at least two of his family members. One of the suspects is an information technology student of Algerian descent. “It’s a relief for all Lyon inhabitants,” Mayor Gerard Collomb said. “I believe the case has been resolved. If there was a network, it has been identified and will certainly be dismantled,”

HHS announces more conscience protections

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced a new rule Friday that would increase protections for medical workers’ religious liberty. The revision of a 2016 rule instituted by President Barack Obama would remove “gender identity” as a component of sex discrimination in healthcare.
