A Canadian court this week said it had granted three adults in a polyamorous relationship equal parenting rights to a child. The decision is reportedly the first of its kind in Canada, but sadly, it likely won’t be the last.

Judge approves AT&T, Time Warner merger

A federal judge on Tuesday approved AT&T’s merger with Time Warner, rejecting the U.S. government’s argument that it would hurt competition and force consumers to pay hundreds of millions of dollars more to stream TV and movies. U.S. District Judge Richard Leon announced the ruling on Tuesday, concluding one of the biggest antitrust trials in recent years. The $85 billion merger will allow AT&T to absorb the owner of CNN, HBO, and the Warner Bros. movie studio.

EU expands same-sex spousal rights

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) this week ruled all EU countries, even those that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman, must recognize same-sex spouses, a decision that threatens the sovereignty of EU member states when it comes to marriage and family law.
