Report: Hope Hicks to leave White House communications post

WASHINGTON—White House communications director Hope Hicks said Wednesday she plans to resign, according to a New York Times report. The news comes just one day after she testified for eight hours behind closed doors before the House Intelligence Committee regarding its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible connections to the Trump campaign.

Nation honors Graham in U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON—Leaders in Washington, D.C., remembered the Rev. Billy Graham at a ceremony Wednesday in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, where his casket lies in honor until Thursday. Graham died last week at age 99. “Today we give thanks for this extraordinary life,” President Donald Trump said.  “And it’s very fitting that we do so right here in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol, where the memory of the American people is enshrined.

Senators offer short-term DACA fix

WASHINGTON—A bipartisan pair of senators on Tuesday introduced legislation to keep the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program from expiring and to fund border security projects over the next three years. The bill, from Sens. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., provides $7.6 billion in funding for new border security measures, good for the White House’s first three years of proposed projects, and gives the nearly 700,000 DACA recipients a three-year extension.
