Presidential elections typically resurrect the same tired issues. Those on the right are often limited to abortion as the primary political narrative, while many on the left continue to dream about bringing us one step closer to socialism with their talk of "taxing the rich" and "universal" this and that. But what about the environment? To whom does that issue belong? Do Christians care about the environment?

According to a new report by the Pew Internet & American Life Project internet users are searching for themselves online. I confess, I have done this.

Matthew Murray - 24, raised in a Bible-teaching home - walked into a church and a parachurch ministry a few days ago firing gun shots at Christians. Murray then died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. We may never know why this happened but Murray's life, as associated on the ex-Pentecostal website "Azusa Street Survivors," paints a chilling narrative. Murray's screen name is thought to be "nghtmrchld26." The FBI has pulled several posts by nghtmrchld26 that speak with detail about shootings, being homeschooled, and rejected by YWAM.

The college Bowl Championship System is a joke. The wild ending to this year's college football season proves once again that the BCS computer ranking system is incapable of choosing the best teams to play for a national title. We are actually no better off than we were before the benign system was put into place in 1998. Gene Wojciechowski at ESPN.com comments on this season:

The New York Times ran a story about the recent exponential cost increase for birth control on college campuses. Because of a change in federal law, young women are now paying much higher prices for their formerly subsidized prescription contraceptives. Get me a violin.

One year ago, 13-year-old Megan Meier fashioned cloth around the support beam in her closet and hanged herself. She was driven to end her life by a tanked online relationship and the harrassing Internet messages of a boy named Josh Evans.

Meier parents later learned that Josh Evans didn't exist - that the Drews, a neighborhood family, had created him fictionally to get back at Megan for a dispute with their daughter.

Raising church kids in the suburbs may be setting them up for psychological distress in their 20s and 30s. A few weeks ago at a youth group from a very large church in a middle class suburb of St. Louis, I asked the following question: "What are your parents doing to you right now that will probably guarantee that you will be in counseling when you're in your 20s and 30s?"
