Many Christians consistently misuse the word "calling," which leads to a person who has a "desire" to do something being wrongly viewed as unspiritual or "fleshly." Is it accurate to say "I feel called to be pilot" or "We feel called to live in the city"? Not really. I guess God could "call" people to vocations and ZIP codes, but that's not the main emphasis of the concept in the Bible. Calling has more to do with becoming a member of the people of God and living a holy life rather than deciding which job to take or whom to marry. Those items are actually choices.

When will people learn that the "cute" animals at the zoo are not domesticated? In Germany, at the Berlin Zoo last Friday afternoon, a polar bear attacked and wounded a woman after she climbed a fence and jumped into its habitat during feeding time, according to the police. Why did she do that?

I boarded a $1.6 million boat a couple of weeks ago and it felt really good. Sitting in the air-conditioned lounge area, I was reminded that this boat sells for more than most people's lifetime earnings. The 24th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show sailed into West Palm Beach, Fla., the last weekend in March, and I was there for my first look at the water toys of the wealthy. More than 1,000 boats valued at more than $350 million were on display along Flagler Drive and the Intracoastal Waterway.

In reflecting on the race question raised in President Obama's last press conference, I was left pondering what does "race" mean. We use the term as if there is one clear definition. I'm not sure I know anymore.

Did she really ask a race question?

This is exactly what I thought after seasoned ABC News correspondent Ann Compton asked President Obama about his use of race in decision-making during his press conference last night. The economy is tanking, the government is growing like kudzu near Interstate 285 in Atlanta, China's talking about a world currency, and you ask the president if race has played a role in decisions he's made as president. What? Are you serious? Who cares?
