As we diligently work to report important news to you even in this busy holiday season, it’s incumbent upon us to pause from our toil and reflect on the greatest news of all, reported some 2,000 years ago by an angel to lowly shepherds:
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:8-12, ESV).
As critical as WORLD’s work is, we take great solace in knowing that every story we report is ultimately framed and controlled by the King of kings and Lord of lords, who “rules over the nations” (Psalm 22:28, ESV).
With these unchanging truths in mind, we trust this Christmas will be a time to gather with loved ones, shut out the distractions of our harried lives, and celebrate the birth of the Christ, who left His world to enter ours—offering unwavering hope to all who will come.
In that spirit, we wish you a wonderful Christmas!
